京都府主催「第9回 Woodyコンテスト 木造住宅部門」において、
「木洩れ日に寄り道 ― 駅×木材×パブリックスペース ―」が最優秀賞を受賞しました。
本作により、二年連続での最優秀賞受賞となります。

本計画は「木材を床の仕上げに使用した屋外または半屋外空間をもつ建築」という課題のもと、京福電気鉄道・御室仁和寺駅前の空地を想定し、
北山杉を通じて駅とまちをゆるやかにつなぐパブリックスペースとして構想しました。
駅を利用する人、地域に暮らす人、観光で訪れる人が、ふと立ち寄り、北山杉の木の気配を感じながら過ごせる場所を目指しています。

構造・仕上げには北山杉・北山丸太を多用し、柱には丸太を用いたレシプロカル構造を採用。
屋根格子から差し込む光が木漏れ日のように空間を包み込み、木の素材感とやわらかな陰影が駅前に穏やかな滞在の場を生み出します。
ベンチやテーブル、ホームの床に至るまで木材を積極的に用い、公共空間における木材利用の可能性を提案しました。

北山杉が日常的に使われ、人の集まる場所でその価値が自然に伝わっていくこと。
その一つのあり方として、「もし実際にあったら嬉しい駅前風景」を丁寧にかたちにした計画です。

本計画はあくまで提案ではありますが、
「こんな駅前があったらいい」という素朴な思いを、北山杉とともにかたちにしました。
いつかこの空間が実際の風景となり、木のぬくもりが人の記憶に残る場所として使われる日を願っています。

At the 9th Woody Contest (Wooden Housing Category) hosted by Kyoto Prefecture,
“A Detour in Dappled Light — Station × Timber × Public Space —” received the Grand Prize.
This marks our second consecutive Grand Prize award.

This proposal was developed in response to the theme “architecture with outdoor or semi-outdoor spaces where wood is used as floor finishing.”
The project envisions a public space on a vacant site in front of Omuro-Ninnaji Station on the Keifuku Electric Railroad, gently connecting the station and the surrounding town through the use of Kitayama cedar.
It aims to create a place where commuters, local residents, and visitors can casually stop by and spend time while sensing the presence and warmth of the wood.

Kitayama cedar and Kitayama logs are extensively used throughout the structure and finishes, with round-log columns forming a reciprocal structural system.
Sunlight filtering through the lattice roof softly fills the space like dappled light through trees, creating gentle shadows and a calm atmosphere in front of the station.
Wood is actively employed in benches, tables, and even the station platform flooring, proposing new possibilities for the use of timber in public spaces.

By incorporating Kitayama cedar into everyday environments and places where people naturally gather, the project seeks to allow its value to be conveyed organically.
As one possible approach, this proposal carefully gives form to an “ideal station-front landscape”—one that feels genuinely welcome if it were to exist.

Although this project remains a proposal, it embodies a simple wish: “It would be nice if such a station-front space existed.”
We hope that one day this vision will become part of the real landscape, a place where the warmth of wood lingers in people’s memories.
